This recorded Navigate training session walks through the Skills Assessment, from how students complete it to how staff review results.
What this session covers
- What the My Skills module is and how the skills assessment helps students understand their employability starting point.
- How students start, complete and review their skills assessment results.
- How students build their skills you're developing list for the year ahead.
- How staff view an individual student's assessment results from the student record.
- How staff use the assessment reports to review cohorts and spot non-completers.
For students: taking and using the assessment
- Log in to Navigate using Login using Microsoft, Login using Google or email and password, then open the My Skills module.
- Click Start a new skills assessment, choose a target completion date and select the assessment name, for example the Personal and Professional Skills Assessment.
- Answer each question honestly, leaving and returning as needed, then view your results, which are grouped into themes and RAG rated per skill.
- From your results, add a few skills to the skills you're developing list, then log those skills against activities and placement attendance so your evidence count grows.
For staff: viewing results and reports
- Use Quick Links to search for a student by name or number, then open their student record to view their assessment results and distance travelled.
- Open the Reports module and go to the assessment section, then use Starting Point and Distance Travelled to view average scores per skill for a cohort.
- Open the Assessment Completion report, filter by assessment, then sort the Assessments Taken column to bring blanks to the top and identify students who have not completed.
